Dear Patients of Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group

Posted on:

As a patient of Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group, we write to inform you that the practice will end its contract with NHS Grampian, on 17 April 2023. This means that the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) will take over the operational management of the Practice from mid-April.

We appreciate that this is an uncertain time and please be reassured that we are working with Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group to ensure that the care and services you currently receive continue as normal. There is no need for you to register with a new GP practice.

AHSCP along with the practice will keep you informed as soon as there is any new information and whilst it may be unsettling, we are committed to doing all we can to make the process as smooth as possible.

If you have any queries regarding the change of management at Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group, please call 03456 081206 or you can email [email protected].

However, if your query relates to appointments or healthcare, please contact the practice as normal by telephoning 0345 013 0730 or visiting their website at www.fyvieoldmeldrummedicalgroup.scot.nhs.uk for more information.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding during this time of change.

Yours sincerely,
Alex Pirrie
Interim H&SC Partnership Manager (Central)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is happening?

The Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group has made the difficult decision to hand back their contract to provide primary care services on behalf of NHS Grampian and the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership. The Fyvie Oldmeldrum Practice is an independent practice which is owned and operated by a partnership of GPs. This means that whilst the GP Partners will no longer be operating the practice, your care will continue as it has.

Why is this happening?

Unfortunately, the practice has been unable to recruit new GPs for some time which means that they are no longer able to continue to operate as they are. Recruitment across all areas of primary care, but in particular GPs, is part of a national issue with many complexities and is not due to lack of funding.

When will this happen?

Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group will continue as an independent business until 17 April 2023, at which point it will come under the management of the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership (AHSCP).

What does this mean for me? Do I need to do anything?

Your care will continue to be delivered by Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group as normal and you do not need to take any action. How you make appointments or get repeat prescriptions, for example, will remain the same.

Do I need to do anything?

No, you do not. The practice will continue to operate as it currently does.

Can I register at a neighbouring Practice?

To ensure stability across all of the Primary Care practices in the area we would ask you to remain registered at your current practice.

What is the Aberdeenshire HSCP doing about this?

The Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) is responsible for ensuring delivery of Primary Healthcare Services across Aberdeenshire and will ensure that you continue to get the care that you need.

How will I find out more?

We will keep you all up-to-date with any developments as soon as we are able.

Please keep an eye on AHSCP social media channels (@AbshireHSCP on Facebook) and information within the practice for further updates and information.

What if I want to ask a question now?

If you have any questions about this change, please call 03456 081206 or email [email protected].
