General Medical Services

  • Management of patients with new illnesses and ongoing illnesses
  • Management of patients with chronic and terminal illnesses

This includes new, return and emergency consultations, home visits where necessary, telephone advice, prescribing of new and repeat medication and referral to other local services e.g. physiotherapy, social work or to hospital for investigations and treatment.

Antenatal Clinics


Held at Oldmeldrum for your first visit on a Mon afternoon. Review visits are held Wed mornings.

Held at Fyvie on Thursday mornings for both your first visit and review visits.


Contraceptive Services


All doctors provide contraceptive advice during normal surgeries.


Cervical Smears and Breast Awareness


We strongly encourage all women who are eligible to have regular cervical smears. If your previous smears have been normal our practice nurse may perform this test. You may ask for a female nurse or doctor to perform your cervical smear test if you prefer. Nurses also give advice and instruction on breast self-examination and awareness.


Bowel screening


We strongly encourage all patients between the ages of 50 to 74 to take part in the bowel screening programme. This simple bowel screening test kit will arrive directly to you through the post once you are eligable. Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland. For more information please go to:

This practice offers NHS Near Me video appointments, powered by the Attend Anywhere system.


NHS Near Me Information

NHS Near Me is a video consulting service which allows patients to attend their appointment from the comfort of their own home or wherever is convenient, using their own computer, smartphone or tablet device.

To use this service you must have a booked video appointment with the practice. Your clinician or booking staff will be able to advise you whether a video appointment is suitable for you.

Health Visitor Service and Child Health Clinics


Health visitors are available Mon-Wed 9am-4.30pm and Thu-Fri 9am-2pm.



Child Health Surveillance Clinics



Doctors perform developmental assessments of babies at 8 weeks. Health Visitors perform examinations at 8 months, 2 years and 4 years. You will receive invitations to attend these clinics.


Childhood Immunisation Clinics -




Primary immunisation clinic              Every Tuesday morning 9-12am

Year old Immunisation clinic             Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 1pm - 3pm


Pre-School booster clinic                  Once every three months, on the 2nd Thursday of

                                                     June, September, December and March.





Primary immunisation clinic              Every 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month 9am - 11.50am

Year old Immunisation clinic             Every  4th Monday from 9.am - 11.50 am.


Pre-School booster clinic                   Clinic every three months.                                                                   


Please note our practice nurses do not give these immunisations. If you are unable to attend your given day or appointment please let the practice know and we will pass on your details to the Health Visiting team.



Casualties and Minor Surgery


Most minor casualties within normal hours are dealt with by the practice. However if your injury requires an X Ray, you will be referred to the Accident and Emergency Department in Aberdeen. Outwith normal hours you can attend Turriff, Inverurie or Aberdeen hospitals directly, though please note that Inverurie has no X Ray facilities. Some types of minor surgery can be performed in the practice. Others may need to be performed by surgeons in Inverurie or Aberdeen.

Enhanced Services

  • Monitoring of patients on special medication e.g. Warfarin and drugs for arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Management of minor injuries.

Chronic Disease Management


Systematic review and management of a number of chronic illnesses including screening, investigations, treatment and regular planned review.


Complementary Medical Services

  • Infant massage
  • Reflexology.

Private Services


(a fee generally has to be paid for these)

  • Medical examinations for HGV, PSV, new employments, insurance etc.
  • Medical reports for employment and insurance purposes.
  • Applications for passports.
  • Travel Vaccinations
  • Issuing of private prescriptions.
